Full Description

Two buildings, lying immediately south of the track on the SE-facing slope at NH 0485 1784 and NH 0489 1785, were recorded during a survey of the West Affric Estate by J Wordsworth for the National Trust for Scotland. Both buildings measure 7m from NE to SW by 3m over drystone rubble walls with round ends. The southern building appears to be a ?shieling bothy sited at the junction of the footpaths from Bealach a'Choinich and Gleann Lichd. It was probably part of the pre-sheep farming settlement at Camban but has been named separately to distinguish it. That to the north has an 0.6m wide entrance 2m from the east end and there is a trench around the exterior. This may be a slightly later building than that at site 25, particularly as the drainage cut around the building is still clear, though it is still thought to predate the introduction of sheep farming. <1>
