Full Description

A shieling was noted at this location on a Seafield Estate Map dating to 1858, surveyed by Willima Brown, during the desk-based stage of a survey by the Highland Council Archaeology Unit in 1995 for the RSPB Abernethy Reserve. <1>

The grid reference provided for this site in <1> is only a short distance to the southeast of the remains of what appears to be a small unnamed farmstead (see MHG15057) - are they actually the same site? Otherwise there is nothing visible at this precise location on vertical aerial photographs [IS-L 06/03/2026].
