The building was listed at Grade B in 1981.
Trial trenching excavations to the rear of the hotel in 1995 were undertaken by G Robins on land that had subsequently been redeveloped as a garage, which had then been demolished prior to futher re-development. Given the depth of truncation that had occurred the trial trenching located what was thought to be a cobbled cellar floor and ephemeral traces of building foundations related to former outbuildings of the hotel. <1> <2>
