Full Description
Early 19th century, 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay house; coursed rubble, ashlar dressings, harled flanks. Centre door; ground, 1st floor and diminutive attic window in SE gable; 4-pane glazing; coped end stacks; slate roof. Coped rubble garden walls. <1>
Built around 1825 by the Sutherland Estate, possibly to house the drill instructor of the local Volunteer Defence Force. In 1907, fisherman Adam Dempster bought Ardassie, which has remained in the same family for over a century. <2>
