NH 5000 1750 - 5015 1760: The B862 public road is presumeably on the line of the earlier Wade road.
NH 5015 1760: From this point onwards, there is much controversy and speculation as to where the road ran to, its next known point lies NNW of Torness at NH 5765 2793.
1) - NH 5015 1760 - 5387 1999: The present B862 public road by Lochgarthside, but this road is not shown on Lyon's map of 1845 (NSA 1845).
or
2) - NH 5015 1760 - 5167 1999: Across mainly afforested moorland where previously no traces had been conclusively found. Approximate course indicated on Roy's map of 1747-55 and Lyon's map of 1845 (NSA 1845).

NH 5003 1981 - 5000 1990: The B852 public road falls on the line of the Wade road.
