An area of possible Neolithic occupation was noted here, during observation along the route of the Nairn to Inverness gas pipeline. On this ridge of sand there were 2 areas of probable prehistoric settlement, tentatively dated to the Neolithic. One pit (site 64) contained much charcoal, consisting almost entirely of carbonized hazelnuts, which seemed to be sitting in a shallow fragmented bowl. <2>
