Full Description
A farmstead comprising one roofed and two unroofed buildings, two enclosures and a length of wall is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xvii). Two unroofed buildings, an enclosure and a length of wall are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1963).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 29 November 1995
Description 1 roofed and 2 unroofed buildings were shown here in 1872 on the SE of a group of 3 enclosures. By 1905 the buildings were all unroofed. No trace of either buildings or enclosures could be seen on the ground. This may have been due to obscuring vegetation but is more likely to be the result of the ruins being cleared in modern times. It is unclear if the buildings and enclosure were part of the establishment of Dale Farm or the remains of a croft like Site 10. <1>
