Full Description
A ruined farmstead at Feithe Bhuidhe.
A farmstead comprising two unroofed buildings, one of which is T-shaped, is shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xvii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1963).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 29 November 1995
The buildings were identified in LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. Possible ruinous rectangular structure oriented NW/SE. The second building to the northwest was thought to be the remains of a hut circle. <1>
Comparing the LiDAR data with historic maps and vertical aerial photos, it is clear that the smaller structure to the northwest of the main building complex is not a hut circle [IS-L 29/06/2020].
