Full Description
Centred 670 465
For (present and successor) Inverness Airport (Dalcross), see NH75SE 31.
'Longman Fields were considered as the site for a municipal airfield in 1932 and it was opened on June 17 1933. During 1940 an RAF flight was detached here and Longman was taken over officially as an RAF station during 1941.
Today, Longman has been almost obliterated by a by-pass road and an industrial estate. Only a Bellman hangar survives in the middle of the industrial estate and there appear to be no other original buildings left.
D J Smith 1983.
