Full Description

An enclosure of two compartments is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire and Cromartyshire 1880, sheet lii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1986) with a length of field wall attached.
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 23 February 1996

The site is visible in vertical aerial photography but overall is more extensive than is shown on the OS 1st Edition map. The two-compartment enclosure appears to be a rectangular building with a circular enclosure abutting to its south. They sit within the southeast corner of a larger enclosure measuring c.125m x 105m which sits astride a bifurcated burn, whuch runs down its centre. The enclosure is typical of those seen elsewhere where shieling huts are also present. None of the latter are immediately visible but there are clearly 'humps and bumps' throughout the interior of the outer enclosure. <1>
