17th Nov 1825 Improvements to Mr Gillespie's plan

I am much pleased with several of the alterations, and think the whole laying out of the House by your scheme, lends more to the real convenience and comfort of a family mansion than Mr Gillespie's - I particularly like the place given to the servants stair from the low floor, the change of drawing room from the centre of the House to the West end, and above all I am delighted at the manner in which you have contrived to light the principal attic room by windows of an ordinary size - this was much wanted as the accomodation would probably be given for school rooms, and sleeping apartments for the children. You have furnished me with materials to supply most of the defects that strike me in Mr Gillespie's plan & now I hope to make something between you both that will afford the ordinary comfort in a Highland Country.
