Full Description

Approximately 450m SE of Torridon House on the shore of Loch Torridon an unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet lxxxi), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment for the National Trust estate at Torridon was carried out by J Wordsworth and J Harden.

This is the site of east Coire township as recorded by Roy in the mid 18th century and then marked on the 1837 estate map of the area but probably cleared in 1845. By the time of the 1875 OS map a sheepfold is marked in this area.
