Full Description

ARCHITECTS: Ross & Joass (I.A. July 31 1863)

An archaeological survey was undertaken in 2003 by Dagg. C, in advance of water mains renewal.

West Lodge, Brahan Estate, at NH 4969 5478, NMRS no. NH 45SE 18. Built in 1863 by Ross and Joass, this is an occupied dwelling lying east of the proposed work. The water main appears to run through the young woodland above the wall visible in Photo no. 3. stopping short of the ornamental gate piers. The Mackenzie memorial lies far enough west of the water main route to be unaffected. Care should however be taken in the moving of plant and sections of pipe to avoid accidental damage to the memorial, the gatepiers and the connecting wall. <1>
