Full Description
Large, prominent, 4 storey building, built overlooking beach (to N of churches of Gairloch). - HAW 8/2003
The Gairloch Hotel was opened in 1872. It was formed from the former Gairloch Poorhouse (which formed the rear portion - see MHG57773) with a substantial extension to the front.
Designed by Andrew Maitland (1872), with subsequent large additions by Andrew Maitland and Sons in 1880. Extensive additions and alterations were designed and carried out by Ross & Macbeth in 1896. <1>
