Full Description

ND34SW 52 3037 4190 and 3041 4180.

At ND 3037 4190 and ND 3041 4180 set into a S-facing slope are two circular stone-walled huts 'A' and 'B'.
'A' measures 7.5m between centres of a wall spread to an indeterminate width. No entrance is evident. In wall in S a flat slab about 1.2m by 0.7m lies at an angle and is overgrown with heather, Inside hut several stones lie loose forming no intelligible pattern. Outside hut in S is an amorphous area of stones protruding through peat possibly an annexe but now too overgrown and tumbled to interpret.
'B' best preserved, measures 7.5m internal diameter with wall spread to 2.5m all round. Outer face cannot be seen but inner face of dry-built walling survives to a height of 0.5m in NW and can be seen intermittently elsewhere. Entrance in SE is 0.8m wide formed of dry walling on NE side. An area of stones, including 1 upright slab, extending to about 7m outside entrance suggests an annexe or outwork now tumbled and too overgrown to interpret.
There is no definite trace of contemporary cultivation but one or two heavily turfed mounds in the area may be clearance heaps.
Visited by OS (I S S) 13 March 1972.
