What may be an unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1876, sheet xvii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 15 May 1996.
A photographic survey of the ruined building east of Loch na Meine dam was carried out by Roland Spencer-Jones of NOSAS on 30/10/16.
A ruined building is found on the east facing slope just east of the Loch na Meine dam. It is built 2m north of one of the outlets – probably the original burn - from Loch na Meine that flows into Allt Tighe Cumhaig. The loosely built walls are approx. 1m high, with rounded corners, and collapsing in the SW corner and along the north wall. Internal dimensions 6m x 2.5m. Entrance in south wall, 2m from SE corner.
This building appears too substantial and large to be a shieling hut. In view of its close proximity to one of the outlets from the dam, it may be related to the dam’s construction in the early 19th century, or its maintenance. <1>
