Site located during preliminary investigations by Forest Enterprise for felling. Plans to create public access to the site led to enormous media interest in June 1999.
Cleared in 1785 of 6 families.

An unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet lxxxi), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1988).
