Surveying Details

22 March 1919. The wreck's position is given as 58 41 30N, 005 10 00W.

The vessel sank 4 miles north of Cape Wrath.

11 May 1984. The wreck at 58 41 17N, 005 11 43W is now thought to be the MANIPUR. The wreck at 58 43 46N, 004 51 16W was examined on the 6 December 1983 using west Orkney hyperfix, patts 3-1, 5-1, 6-4. The NGR was eastings 234765, northings 985905. The least echosounder depth was 77 in a general depth of 86 metres. No scouring was observed. The side scan sonar indicated a height of 8.5 metres, length of 55 metres (180 feet), and width of 15 metres (49 feet). The wreck is apparently whole, lying with its keel on an orientation of 137/338 degrees, with areas of debris close by.
