Full Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey was conducted during December 2002 by CFA Archaeology Ltd in advance of proposals to renew the Mulbuie water supply within and around Muir of Ord.
A farmstead named as Muirton House on the 1st edition 6-inch OS map (1881) and as Fairburn House on the 2nd edition 6-inch OS map (1907) is now named as Muirton Mains on the current OS 1:10000 map. A house set within grounds indicated as trees is named as Muirtown on Thomson’s map of 1826. The farm is currently occupied.
