Surveying Details
-----------------------------
The wreck's position was given as 56 30 00N, 005 42 00W [Cross Ref; RIVER TAY]. Source; authority not stated.
14 January 1974. The position and area were sounded out, but nothing was located. Report by boat party.
Hydrographic Office, 1995.
Cross Ref: NM74SW 8581 RIVER TAY (see also BALISTA) and NM64SE 8581 RIVER TAY
ALEXANDER, possibly attempting to recover coal dumped by the RIVER TAY, went aground and sank in the same place. May therefore be the vessel lying underneath the BALLISTA. Another suggestion is that one of the wrecks beneath the BALLISTA may be the vessel ARDFERN, possibly sunk in 1950.
Source; Baird 1995
