Full Description
In the area centred at NH 484 096, on the opposite side of the valley to NH 40 NE 4, at 1200 ft., are the remains of fourteen shielings and one small enclosure with a wall extant to a height of c.0.2m. The shielings are visible as grass covered banks and walls between 0.2m and 06.m high and can be divided into three types.
A; oval, measuring 4.0m to 5.0m in length by 2.5m in width, B; rectangular, measuring 4.0m to 5.0m in length by 2.5m in width, and C; circular, measuring 2.0m to 3.0 m in diameter. Entrances to the shielings, where they can be seen, are all facing the stream which runs through the centre of this site. No name could be found for this site. Visited by OS (R D) 30 June 1964
