Steamship PAT, of Chester, master William Hoard. Enroute Runcorn to Fisherrow. Lost 18 Mar 1929, 1930, 1931 or 1932 (details incomplete on report). Brims Ness 5 1/2 miles from Holburn Head Lighthouse. No horn sounding. Wind South fresh breeze, heavy swell, haze. Cause of wreck - haze in Pentland Firth. Cargo salt. In response to a telephone message from Finse (?) Post Office, the Thurso lifeboat went out and rescued the crew of 4. The vessel is likely to become a total wreck. The PAT is valued at ?800. The cargo at ?300.
