A farmstead, comprising three unroofed buildings, two enclosures and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet xxxiii). Three unroofed buildings, one enclosure and a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 3 July 1996.
Also known locally as Eagan <1>
A desk-based assessment and rapid walkover survey was conducted in connection with a proposed native pinewood scheme at Auchterteang by J. Wordsworth in 1996.
The site of the former settlement of Backlenscrip, already unroofed and therefore abandoned by 1871 lies well outside the proposed WGS area. The remains of at least 3 buildings survive here. <2>
Note; NGR in Wordsworth report incorrect. (TB 9/4/25)
