Full Description
The Inverness Field Club, led by Donald Coghill, surveyed a number of sites in the Aird area between 1987 and 1989. Site on Phoineas farm, marked K on the plan. A ringwork with what appears to be a small motte hill now reduced to 4 feet in height. The ditch is completely obliterated in places: its diameter from east to west is 21 yards. This could be the earthwork of Christie of Phoineas, one of Bisset of Lovat's barons, known as Gasper Cristy Baryon of Foyaes. Extract from Inverness Field Club Survey notes. <1>
Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location based on grid coordinates. (T. Blackie 5/12/22)
