Full Description

A crofting township, comprising seventeen roofed buildings, one unroofed building, four enclosures and a field-system is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet cxl). Nine roofed, four unroofed buildings, six enclosures and a field-system are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).

A walkover survey with accompanying photographs was conducted over Highbridge Farm on the 20th October 1999. A tapestry of small field enclosures defined by ditches and turf dykes, masked by patches of whin, trees, rushes and bracken. A well established farm - possibly 17th c. or even earlier, more or less unspoilt. <1>
