Full Description

See Report 49 (site 1) - Archaeological Assessment of the route of a proposed Water Main between Ardneaskan and Achintraid, Lochcarron, Wester Ross
By C Dagg, 24/09/00
------
Centred on NG 8501 3790 Area of Cairns and Dyke. NW of the enclosures is an area of probable clearance cairns, notable as bracken-covered mounds. West of this, a low rubble and turf dyke runs south from the path, and has two cairns built into it. The ground here is heather, indistinguishable from the surrounding hill, therefore the cairns would not appear to be contempory with the cultivation plots within the enclosures. The appearance of this area is of a type that could be associated with prehistoric settlement, although none was located during the survey.
