Centred at NH 801 283 in recently felled woodland is a field system marked by stone clearance heaps and an occasional lynchet. Details of cultivation plots are obscured by tree stumps.
Visited by OS (A A) 17 February 1972.

Part of this site was surveyed in March 2009 in connection with a planning application for a new house. It was noted that the site seems undisturbed, with little indication of the former tree plantation. No lynchets or areas of settlement were noted within the area surveyed. Five features were noted and three of these were partially excavated. Excavation of the features revealed two of them to be clearance cairns and a third to be a modern earth mound. The other two features could not be evaluated but also had the appearance of clearance cairns. There was no evidence for plough or ard marks below the cairns and no associated features in the surrounding cleared area. No dating evidence was recovered. At least 4 other clearance cairns are visible to the NNE of the survey area with others to the south. The clearance cairns form part of the wider prehistoric field system. <1>
