Full Description

NC70NW 37.03 centred on 741 054

The field system comprises numerous stone clearance heaps, on average from 5-15m apart, along the flanks of Cnoc na h-Airde, with occasional traces of lynchets; no measurable plots are discernible. In the south and south-west early-modern strip cultivation has intruded; this is probably contemporary with structural remains (NC00NW 37.02) published by OS at NC 7429 0539 and NC 7444 0521.
Revised at 1:10 000
Visited by OS (J M) 30 April 1981.

Concentrated on a terrace on the NW, E and S sides of Cnoc na h-Airde, there is a scatter of small cairns, measuring up to 5m in diameter and 0.5m in height. On the S side of the hillock the remains of a system of earth-and-stone banks can be seen; it impinges on the distribution of small cairns and encloses faint traces of what may be contemporary ridging, measuring about 4m between furrows. A single small cairn, measuring 3m in diameter and 0.2m in height, is situated on a low knoll to the W of Cnoc na h-Airde (NC 7391 0547).
