Full Description

NC70NW 93 7185 0662

An L-shaped building (ROG95 290) is situated on a slight rise at the edge of the semi-improved fields to the W of East Langwell. The building measures 5.2m from NW to SE by 2.8m transversely within a stony bank spread to 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height, with the leg of the L extending for 2.6m to the SW. An earth-and-stone bank runs past the W and S of the building, forming part of a fragmented system of banks extending to the N and E of the building which appear to pre-date the drystone walled fields around East Langwell which are shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1879, sheet xcvi).
