Four shieling-huts were recorded at the confluence of two small burns during a pre-afforestation survey by Wordsworth Archaeological Services (NMRS MS 961/25, no.2). The shieling-huts range from 4m to 8m in length by 3m in width and appear to have turf walls over stone footings. They are all rectangular, or possibly oval with rounded corners, on plan. At least two dairy stores were located by the burn and a third lies close to the huts. To the W of the buildings a 5.5m long stone dyke blocks the S end of a natural hollow to create an 18m long animal pen.
