Full Description

Invergordon Boat Yard, Harbour, Invergordon

NMRS Manuscript contains information on this boat yard, that was established during the mid 1960s, and closed about ten years later. The main boatbuilding shed is built over an open concrete slipway that was part of the Royal Navy boatyard once used to service and repair landing craft. The boatbuilder's slipway haulage winch is located on the concrete base block of the earlier winch used by the Navy (since removed). The yard is now (on visit 1991) used by J.P. Knight (Offshore) Ltd, Tug operators, as a shore base for crews and workshops for small boat repairs.
See NMRS MS/744/210/23.
