Full Description

A survey of the archaeological and historic features was undertaken within Abernethy Forest Reserve for the RSPB in 1995.

A track and possible wall remains running between buildings and a former area of cultivation at 106° E/W. The track runs from the main Rynettin enclosure wall on the east and now ends at the modern track which runs N/S, although it is shown on the 1863 OS map as continuing into Rynettin Birch Wood at NJ012145. The existing section is 2m wide and is bounded by a slump terrace slope to the north and the remains of a boundary wall to the south and is probably of pre-clearance date. It may have linked the settlement of Easter Rynerrick, on the western slopes of Cairn Rynettin with that of Rynettin, to its east. <1>
