Full Description

Recently uncovered during building works near Kilcamb Lodge Hotel, the scant remains of an iron foundry. Photos taken and information supplied by G Fox, Strontian.

18 c. Kiln 15ft diam. and other long room 70 ft diam. and a possible "Scotch Hearth". There is a reference to a smelter outside the town, over the bridge. Evidence - lots of slag, some pan tiles and flooring.
