Full Description

A ruined farmstead near to Swordle Bay, Ardnamurchan.

The stone footings of a group of four buildings were noted but not examined further.

The site of the farmstead was visited and recorded by A & A Perkins in April 2014 as part of a survey of archaeological sites in Ardnamurchan. Remains of 3 dwellings plus one other structure (possibly a cultivation/kale yard). All buildings are grouped in a position closer to the shore and slightly north-west of the known settlement at Swordle Chorrach which includes Coldstream Cottage. House A: 9m x5m long axis orientated approx. east/west, rounded ends to building corners, remains of a dividing wall across its' width. House B: 11m x 5m long axis orientated approx. north/south, again with rounded corners and evidence of a dividing wall. House C: 9.5m x 5.5m long axis approx east/west, rounded corners Building D: 10m x 10m Possibly a yard used for cultivating vegetables. Does not appear to have been a roofed building. <1>
