Full Description
Was a substantial township in the 18th C, largely, but not totally, abandoned in 1790's. Re-occupied 1840's-1850's. Much disturbed site, but ruined structure in photo, maybe one of last to be abandoned. Traces of head dyke. Hogg (the Ettrick Shepherd) spent a night here June 1803. He describes one house built of earth with walls covered with a fine "verdure" (grass?) internal walls "plastered" and a chminey. It was a sheep farm by this time.
H M Rogers, Invergarry, 1998.
