Full Description

Loch Barabhaig Survey site 8
JW 4/5/2001

A mound is visible on aerial photography captured 1999-2001. <1>

A grassy mound on the S bank of the Allt nan Geal Charn was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey by Wordsworth Archaeological Services, 2011. It measured 7m diameter by 1.5-2m high. This was not a natural feature, either being a cairn or a collapsed structure. Though it cannot be fully interpreted it is clearly of archaeological interest and is worthy of preservation. It was partly obscured by bracken.
It ws recommended that it be left unplanted with a 20m buffer. <2>

The site does not appear on the 1st or 2nd edition OS maps.
