Full Description

Loch Barabhaig Survey site 7
JW 4/5/2001

A ruinous drystone building was recorded on the N shore of Camus Bharabhaig during a pre-afforestation survey by Wordsworth Archaeological Services, 2000. The building is aligned WNW - ESE and measures 10m x 4m. The quality of stonework and its location suggests it was used as a store, probably for a fisherman.
A low wall extends 20m to the WNW before turning NE to join a rocky outcrop, 23m NE of which is a small stone building measuring 6m x 2.5m.
It was recommended that the site be left unplanted with a buffer of at least 10m external to the wall. <1>

An unclear rectangular feature is faintly visible on aerial photography captured 1999-2001. <2>

The site does not appear on the 1st or 2nd edition OS maps.
