Full Description

Allt Mhogh Sgeir
The area covered by this name is focussed on a small fluvial delta, with two streams dividing it into three parts. The core area is roughly rectangular in shape, c 150m wide x 50m deep, on which there is a settlement and a fishing station. There are a few additional sites lying outwith the core area. The core area has been improved and appears to be quite fertile, but is covered by rampant bracken in the summertime, masking all of the structures and features.

It is a multi period area which may have been used over a long period of time. Some of the structures show evidence of alteration and re-use. No single historical reference was found to this place. These sites were recorded by NOSAS in 2002 as part of an archaeological survey of Inner Loch Hourn.

Site: 96. The variable remains of an enclosure dyke. <1>

NGR adjusted based on 1999-2001 APs <2>
