Full Description
This name applies to the site of an old chapel situated in the grave-yard near 'Annat'. Nothing is known regarding the date of its erection, neither when disused.
Name Book 1875.
There is no trace or local knowledge of this chapel nor has the gravedigger (Mr Murdo MacKenzie, Annat) ever found any remains of its foundations. The graveyard has recently been extended and is still in use.

Monumental inscription survey completed by Alastair G. Beattie & Margaret H. Beattie. The survey may not include inscription information after 1855 and each inscription transcribed does not give the full details that appear on the stones, abbreviations used. Some ommissions and inacuraciesmay be encountered. First published 1987, reprinted 1991, 1996 & 1997, with corrections. <1>
The burial ground at Achanalt was visited during the Highland Kirkyards project, run by Highland Buildings Preservation Trust. The burial ground was described as a rural graveyard with modern extension to west. There is no church in use or redundant church. The modern section, Annat New Burial Ground, is rectangular in shape, with 20th century upright gravestones laid out in rows facing east. The grass is short and there are gravel paths. The older section, Annat Old Burial Ground, has uneven ground and long grass with many mossy patches. There are many flat slabs which are often overgrown with moss and/or grass, as well as uprights from the 19th and 20th centuries. <2><3>
