Full Description

Pipeline.
A 300mm diameter pipeline, formerly carrying water from the dam upstream across Allt a’Mhuilinn, to the old hydro-electric power-generating station of Feature 052 (above). In places along its length it is broken or missing altogether, and in others it is buried underground or lies on the surface, or even raised above ground level on concrete stilts (see Plate 16). In many places it has been corroded so greatly that there are large holes in it. It is supported along its length at regular intervals and changes in direction by concrete blocks measuring 1.9m long (parallel to the pipe) x 0.8m wide and 0.8m deep. It meanders from the dam to the generating station, gently down, slightly across the contours on the moderate NW-sloping valley-side of Allt a’Mhuilinn, changing its direction gently at some of the concrete housing blocks.

At 282772 911696 the pipeline is contained in a concrete block, set 5m to the E of the steep valley-side of Allt a’Mhuilinn and tangentially 8m to the W of the existing access track of Feature 001 (above). <1>
