Full Description

Locally this tree is known as the hanging tree (Jacqueline Aitken, pers. Comm.). It is one of two large oaks, now standing either side of a passing place on the west side of the public road. There are a number of smaller oaks and the stump of an equally large oak nearby. The hanging tree consists of two trunks and two stumps; an overhanging branch may have been utilised as the gallows.
