Full Description

Along the banks of the Allt an t-Seana-bhaile, just below the bridge of Oldtown, as well as a long the verges of the public road, a number of small pieces of iron slag were recovered. Also accompanying structures were identified, but given the proximity of the township of Oldtown, alongside the evidence for occupation stretching back much further in this locale, it is possible that these finds represent the proximity of an iron-working site, rather then simply that slag has been used for hardcore.
