Full Description

Grouse Butt.
A 3.5m diameter, rounded grouse butt, surrounded on its N, W and S sides by peat hag pools. The NNW part of the peat wall is the highest at 0.7m, tapering to 0.1m high at the entrance, which opens to 191 degrees, and the walls are 0.7m thick. The SE part of the butt is very eroded and partly collapsed. In a pool to the SW of the butt, a 300mm x 75mm x 10mm piece of wood, which is pointed at one end was found, and maybe was an indication of the reference number of the individual grouse butt for its users. <1>
