Full Description

Grouse Butt.
Only a 2.5m broad arc of peat wall, standing 0.7m high and 0.7m thick and trending 058 degrees, indicate the remains of this grouse butt. It is also almost completely surrounded by peaty pools of water and is set on almost level open moorland. In one of the pools on its SE side, a 300mm x 75mm x 10mm piece of wood pointed at one end, identical to that present at Feature 250 (above), was found. <1>
