Full Description

C Dagg undertook a pre-afforestaiton survey at Kinloch, Shieldaig in 1999.

Site 3: Structure(s). At the base of a cliff where two waterfalls have brought down rubble and debris and formed a raised area of better drained ground and thicker heather growth, around 200m. Above sea level. It has some of the physical appearance of a typical shieling site, but there is only one definite structure, just to the west of the westermost of the two burns. This is a horseshoe shaped structure, opening to the north and measuring 1.8m. Across externally, standing about 50cm high. There are possibly two other structures to the east of the eastern burn, nearer the base of the fails, but flooding and snow cover obscured their features during this survey. If not shielings, this site is possibly connected with Site 4. <1>

NGR adjusted based on 2009 vertical aerial photographs. <2>
