Sheepfold - NN 83687 97613
Visited Sat 30th Aug 2003, weather overcast threatening rain. A well-preserved circular sheepfold is situated in a coniferous plantation, midway between Stronetoper and Corarnstilmore (to the NW). It has not been planted and the trees in the adjacent area have been cleared. It has an internal diameter of 20m and the walls, which are almost complete, are to a consistent height of 1m. They are 0.8m wide at the base and 0.5m at the top. There is an entrance in the SSE with a substantial lintel. The entrance is 1.2m in height, 1m in width at the base (0.8m at the top). The lintel is a large flat slab measuring 1.5m x 0.6m.
