Full Description
A dwelling house - formerly a farm steading - situate a short distance northeast of Carnach and on the north side of the County road. Property of Sir J. Riddell Bart. [Baronet].

A farmstead comprising three unroofed, two roofed buildings and two enclosures is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet xxviii). Two unroofed, two roofed buildings and one enclosure are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1990).

The site of the farmstead buildings south of the road was visited and recorded by I Thornber in as part of a survey of the Carnoch Estate as part of an Environmental Assessment in advance of proposed forestry planting. NGR NM 850608: Achnalia: three rectangular stone structures on the west bank of the Allt Feith 'n Amean and south of the A861: comprising ? A dwelling-house and two out-buildings. The position and layout of these corresponds closely with the settlement of 'Achnalee' shown in Bald's plan of 1806. <1>
