This stone and turf dam across the Milton Burn, was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey at Craig Pityoulish and Craiggowrie. The dam measures over 30m in length by 4.5m in width and is 1.8m in high. The burn has broken through the dam in two places. A large quarry in the hillside to the W is undoubtedly the source for the materials used in its construction.
Visited by T Holden and M Dalland (Headland Archaeology) 25 June 1999.
NMRS, MS/899/170, no. 8.
