NLO: Island of Stroma [name: ND 35 77].

Air photography (RCAHMSAP 1995) has recorded the wreck of a small coaster on the sandstone flags immediately NW of the small island of Clett. The ship is lying nearly upright with bows to the W, but may have broken her back, and the good state of the paintwork suggests that the wreck occurred relatively recently. The hatch-covers have been removed and the cargo apparently salvaged.
This wreck is probably to be identified as that of the MV Bettina Dancia which is recorded as having been wrecked at this location on 13 February 1993. Registered at Tisvildeleje [Denmark], the vessel was built in 1990, measured 63m in length by 11m in beam, and was of 1354 grt.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 27 October 1999.
I G Whittaker 1998.

The island of Clett is not noted as such on the 1999 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 10 September 2002.
