Full Description

The building was photographed as part of a character appraisal of Cawdor Conservation Area in 2015. <1>

Situated on a grass lane above Back St.

This 'C' listed semi-detached building is rectangular in shape with an extension from the west gable that stands slightly proud to the south into the lane. In conjunction with UID_014 it has been used as both a church hall and Cawdor Village school until 1855.

It is a single storey building with four bays. Constructed of rubble stone with tooled rubble dressings, it has been repointed with modern-concrete. The building has white harlling to the rear.

The roof is clad in black corrigated iron, with a metal ridgeline and black traditional style metal guttering and downpipes. The extention has traditiaonal Scottish slate and a tiled ridgeline. It has two stone stacks, the west end on the original site of the gable, the east end stack ajoins/shared with UID 14.

The building has three four light sash windows in white wooden frames.

To the lane is a red wooden period double door with a modern handle, (that is out of character with the building). There is a single low doorstep to building. In addition it has a single large external lamp to side of door, (again out of character). There is a second single red wooden door to side of the extention.
